Retaliatory Evictions

If you are being evicted from your apartment for making a complaint, you have rights and your landlord must follow proper legal procedures for evicting you from your apartment.

A "retaliatory eviction" occurs when a landlord attempts to evict a tenant in response to some action taken by the tenant. The tenant may have complained to the landlord or a housing authority or official, or a city inspector. Or the tenant may have engaged in tenant organizing.
